Our Director, David Arnold was back on the road last week to meet with clients and contractors at the new Vaccines Manufacturing and Innovation Centre (VMIC) based at The Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordfordshire. Dave was invited by Tanveer Ahmed – VMIC C&Q Manager and Glencar Construction who are the principle contractor for the project.
The Vaccines Manufacturing and Innovation Centre (VMIC) has been established to provide the UK’s first strategic vaccine development and advanced manufacturing capability. VMIC will fast track development and manufacture of early stage vaccine products, as well as serve as the UK’s response capability to produce vaccines against emerging infectious diseases. They have already taken a leading role in the Government’s national response to COVID-19.
Dave comments…. ‘The VMIC facility is truly impressive and it was a huge privilege to be granted special access to tour the facility. It is credit to the hard work and the fantastic collaboration of companies involved in the project to witness what has been achieved so far. Glencar have done an exceptional job on the build in such a short space of time and the VMIC team and Adepto contractors are working determinedly in readiness for the site to be fully operational by Summer 2021. Adepto look forward to continuing to support VMIC over the next 12 months as the site prepares to develop its first lifesaving vaccines.’
